.Name. Marissa Aurora Gwendolyn Glyntaris
.Nickname. Mary, Bloody Mary, Scary Mary, Snake Woman
.Age. She hardly looks out of her twenties, but, since she didn't age after she retrieved her orb of madness, her real age is unknown.
.Birthday. August 13 (She doesn't bother to celebrate her birthday anyway...)
Race: A marax, or an ancient species that is related to the gorgon of Greek mythology. Rumor has it that they were created when three mortal females, Lyria, Marissa, and Narphas, angered Stheno and Euryale, the two living gorgons after the death of Medusa. Instead of turning the females to stone, the two gorgons used their power to trap the three girls in a strange cocoon. For three hundred years they remained in them until they broke free as the same fearsome beasts as the gorgons, except with an upside. Instead of turning whoever looked into their eyes to stone, the marax had to possess one of three 'orbs of madness,' which, when speaking an incantation, will turn everyone within the marax's field of vision into slick black crystal, almost like onyx. As well as that, if they possess an orb, the kiss from a marax will turn the victim to the same substance. However, without one of the three orbs, the marax could only rely on mortal weapons. Another downside to a marax without an orb is that without it, they become mortal, like Medusa was. Marissa is one of those three marax, and currently holds the orb of Heaven and Earth, the other two being the orb of Death and the orb of Life.
Allegiance: King Osirus
Profession/Rank: Personal guard to Queen Marcelle, interrogator/torturer in the Blood Chamber, halberdier/lancewoman
.Hair. Hair? What hair? Oooh, you must mean those green writhing serpents she has on her head...
.Eyes. No one has ever seen her eyes and lived. However, it is rumored that they are bright orange and narrowed, like a snake's.
.Physical Description. No one has ever set eyes upon Marissa's face, though it is said that her face is very beautiful, unlike the gorgons. Despite that, she never shows her face to anyone, keeping it concealed always by her emerald green helm, which only shows the lower half of her face. Her ruby lips seem to always be curved into a vicious, almost sadistic smirk; only twice since joining King Osirus has her smile disappeared. Her skin, as pale as moonlight, stands out against the dark armor that she wears and the twenty snakes that make up her once-beautiful hair. Her armor, which isn't very modest, shows off most of her torso and upper legs, but conceals her arms, lower legs, and parts of her which she wouldn't reveal to anyone. What could be the most unique part of her armor is the chainlike piece that dangles down from her helm/breastplate to form a tail, with an intimidating, scorpion stinger-like blade on the end.
When in battle or standing alongside Queen Marcelle, Marissa is always seen with her double-bladed zanba-tou, which was supposedly hand-made for her by Hephaestus when Zeus told him of her transformation by Stheno and Euryale. The blades, a shining gold, were supposedly made with gold fetched by Hermes, the staff was made by a dryad, the fangs that decorate it are said to have come from Cerberus and Hydra, and the beads were supposedly made from the blood of those in Tartarus. It is a weapon that Mary takes great pride in, and rarely is seen without it, unless she is in the blood chamber. Then, she takes her 'tail' and uses it as a whip to mercelessly beat her victims to bloody pulp with the blade on the end.
The snakes on her head are a rare breed, the Emerald Viper. They are extremely poisonous, but, due to a low concentration of the poison, it tends to move slowly through the veins, giving victims of the bite plenty of time to get the proper antidote. However, Marissa's snakes are very tame and only attack when she wills them to or she gets angry at someone. Despite that, they never bite anyone of higher rank than her.

Snakes- Marissa has always had a love for anything reptillian, snakes in particular, since she happens to have twenty on her head. If anyone asks her, she always says that they're 'so adorable and scaly, and how can you not resist that hissing noise they make?'
Meat- Vital to life, makes you strong, and is chock full of blood! Perfect!
Queen Marcelle- Unconditionally loyal to the Queen, Marissa has sworn to protect her at all costs. Occasionally, she wishes that she could be Marcelle's daughter...
The Prophets- Marissa has always admired the prophet's skills and has a dream to finally be the retainer to one of them, no matter what.
Lord Nikanoru Magrace- Since she spends a lot of her time in the Blood Chamber, Marissa has seen quite a bit of the corpselike shade, and has gained somewhat of a respect for him.
.Dislikes.
Birds- They're smelly, but their meat tastes nice... Besides, after an incident with birds and her beloved armor, she hasn't been fond of them...
Snow- Snow usually signals cold weather, and Marissa HATES cold weather. It makes her very lethargic.
Lord Eltana Remarque- Marissa hasn't seen much of the man...woman...thing...but she hasn't seemed fond of him.
Bugs- They whine in your ear, they buzz and sting, they bite and tickle you with their disgusting wings! What's not to hate?!
Vegetables- Marissa is a purebred carnivore, and turns her nose up at anything green, leafy, or plant-like.
.Goals.
To become immortal without keeping an orb
To gain a high position in His Majesty's army
To become the retainer of one of the prophets. It doesn't matter which one.
.Fears.
Dying
Losing her orb
Being captured by the Order of Lumen
.Personality. Before her horrid transformation, Marissa was beautiful, kind, sweet, caring, but a tease. She loved to taunt anyone that had anything worth teasing about. She is still like that, but prefers to poke fun by being violent and even murderous with her teasing, which made her perfect for the job she has in the blood chamber. If she were in modern times, she may also be diagnosed with Manic Depression, since she tends to suffer from sudden, extreme mood swings every so often. She can go from being terribly lazy and uninterested to being sadistic, violent, and hyper. Some say it's the result of the orb of madness she possesses, others say it's the result of the magic Euryale infused in them.
Though she was never interested in love, she seems to torture those who are attractive to her eye less quickly, and tries to seduce them. However, if they decline her, she will not only kill them as slowly and painfully as possible, but she will also kiss them either before they die or after they are dead. She has been known to do other things with her victims as well, but I'm going to save those tales for another day... Depending on what kind of mood she's in also depends on how 'vicious' she is to her victims, either male or female. If she's not in the mood, she may only kiss those who are absolutely gorgeous to her. But, if she's in a hyper, manic mood, her preferences widen considerably.
Another thing, Marissa tendsss to hissss her wordsss like a sssnake would. Ssso don't kill me if I type my words like thisss...

.Family.
.Father. Rumored to be Zeus, but no one's sure...
.Mother. Her name was Atella, but she's dead...
.Siblings. The other two marax, Lyria and Narphas...
.History. Marissa was the second of three sisters, the other two were Lyria, the elder, and Narphas, the younger. They had always loved taunting mythical beasts, since it was rumored that since they were the daughters of Zeus, they wouldn't be killed. When they were thirteen, they caught wind of a hero had slain the only mortal of the three gorgons, Medusa, they decided to taunt the two others over their great loss, despite the warnings given to them by their mortal mother Atella. After traveling for what seemed like an eternity, they finally came to the hold of the two gorgons, Stheno and Euryale. The three girls, with the help of a blessed shroud given to them by Artemis, began ridiculing the monsters, about how they so easily lost their sister. Angered, Stheno siezed the three by their feet, forced them to the ground, and Euryale charged her hands with a strange magic, shoving it into each of the girl's hearts. The three girls screamed loudly as the magic branched out from them, forming a sort of cocoon around each of them. For three hundred years they slept, undergoing terrifying transformations.
Until...
The cocoon burst open, and Marissa slid out, a strange, gorgon-like beast, except with human legs. But, the strangest part of her was the armor that seemed grown into her skin. With anger flashing in her eyes and her clawed gauntlets curled into tight fists, she leaped up into the air, screeching her anger to the gods. Zeus, hearing his daughter's inhuman screeching, saw her strange form and knew immediately what had happened. So, he charged Hephaestus to create her a weapon, so she could defend herself from enemies until she could find one of the three orbs of madness, which would give her magical power and help her save herself from death until he could revert her back to her normal form.
For years now, Marissa has roamed these lands, fighting off enemies and searching for a way to bring herself back to her normal form. Little did she know that there was no way. She became known as a goddess of death among the lands, but was a mortal goddess until...
There, in a temple in the middle of the woods, was that blessed crystal orb... One of the orbs of madness... With little difficulty, she killed the priestess that was guarding the orb and seized it, holding it tightly in her hand. It was hers... All hers...
Now, she has made her way into Alyssus, where she roamed freely for a long time until she caught word of Osirus taking the throne, and what such a good king he was... Taking herself to him, she offered her services as a marax and how she could easily help get information from anyone the king wanted. Since then, she has been a top interrigator/torturer in the dreaded Blood Chamber. It has even become like a second home to her, since she prefers to be surrounded by the sickening smells of death and blood and the sights of prisoners writhing in pain as she slowly kills them...

.Role Play Sample. "Ssso...what have we here today?"
A chill went down the guard's spine as he saw the mysterious creature slip into the room, her ruby lips curled into a cruel, inhuman smirk. "Oh, only thessse people?" she asked, her helmed head turning to the guard, who nodded quickly. "I sssee..." Slowly, she made her way to the female, bound in chains, her matted, dirty brown hair hiding her face from the marax. "Ssso, what did she do, eh?"
The guard straightened up and cleared his throat. "That girl, Adrianna Laicius, was seen assisting our enemies, the Order of Lumen. She--"
"Shut up!" Marissa hissed, turning around to face the guard. "That'sss enough. Now go dissspossse of what I the other perssson I wasss toying with, eh?" Before the guard answered, she turned back around. Her hand slowly reached back to grab the whiplike tail she wore on her armor. "Now, sssweetie..." she hissed, kneeling down before the bent figure and reaching with her other clawed gauntlet to brush away the hair that hid the girl's face. What she saw made her laugh. She was a beautiful girl, with scared green eyes gazing onto the helm. "Please..." Adrianna whispered, her voice quivering. "Don't hurt me..."
"Now, now, sssweetie..." Marissa hissed, "I won't do anything to make you feel uncomfortable if you lisssten to me... Jussst clossse your eyesss..." When Adrianna's eyes stayed open out of fear that the marax would kill her, Marissa's smirk faded. "Did you not hear me, bitch? I said CLOSSSE YOUR EYESSS!" With that, she raked her claws across the poor girl's eyes, blinding her. Blood sprayed from the slashes as Adrianna screeched in pain. She was finally silenced when Marissa placed her hand over the girl's mouth, leaning in and whispering. "Now, will you be sssilent? I told you to lisssten, and you didn't, so you were punished..."
Heavy sobs were still wracking Adrianna's body, but were muffled by the hand over her lips. "Calm yourssself, my dear... It will all be over sssoon..."
Finally, after Adrianna's sobs had died down somewhat, Marissa removed her hand. "Farewell, sssweetie..." And with that, she gently kissed the girl's lips, making her crystallize over. "How?" she managed to gasp out before her lungs hardened over. "Why?"
"Sssimple," Marissa replied, laughing. "I'm Bloody Mary, your worssst nightmare... It'sss what I do..."
